How to Add Arbitrum One (ETH) to MetaMask

MetaMask is one of the most popular web wallets among cryptocurrency users worldwide.

Here are four simple steps to connect MetaMask to Arbitrum One (ETH):

  • Step 1: MetaMask Installation and Setup; Wallet Creation
  • Step 2: Wallet Configuration
  • Step 3: Adding Arbitrum One (ETH) Network
  • Step 4: Adding Tokens to Your Wallet

Step 1: MetaMask Installation and Setup; Wallet Creation

If you don't have a wallet, you'll need to download and install the MetaMask Chrome extension.

  • Open Chrome and visit the official MetaMask website MetaMask Website and click on "Download Now"
  • On the download page, choose "Download"; install MetaMask on Chrome
  • After installation, you'll be asked if you're new to MetaMask; there are options like "Import Wallet" and "Create a Wallet"
  • If it's your first time using MetaMask, click "Create a Wallet," or click "Import Wallet" to restore your wallet using your phrase
  • If you choose the former, you'll get a recovery phrase that can be used to access your MetaMask wallet. Verifying this recovery phrase will be the last step in creating the wallet.

Step 2: Wallet Configuration

As mentioned earlier, MetaMask is used to connect to the Ethereum blockchain. But to connect MetaMask to the Arbitrum One (ETH) DApp, certain settings need to be changed so that the wallet focuses on the nodes of the Arbitrum One (ETH) network.

  • In the settings page, select "Networks"

  • To manually add Arbitrum One (ETH), click on "Add Network" in the top right corner

  • Fill in the network information:

    Network Name: Arbitrum One

    Currency Symbol: ETH

    ChainID: 42161

    RPC URL: https://arb1.arbitrum.io/rpc

    Chain Explorer URL: https://arbiscan.io/

Step 3: Arbitrum One (ETH)

  • Finally, you'll notice an ETH icon next to your ETH balance
  • You can find the Arbitrum One (ETH) dropdown menu in the top right corner

Thus, you've connected MetaMask to Arbitrum One (ETH).

When you want to switch it back to the Ethereum network, simply select the Arbitrum One (ETH) option and then choose "Ethereum Mainnet."

Step 4: Adding Tokens to Your Wallet

Now that we've learned how to add Arbitrum One (ETH) to MetaMask, let's proceed to use the MetaMask wallet for transactions.

  • Get the contract address of the token and copy it
  • Once you click on the address, you'll automatically be redirected to the Arbitrum One block explorer page, where you'll copy the contract address
  • Open MetaMask again and click on "Add Token"
  • Paste the copied token contract address into MetaMask, then click "Next"
  • Complete the process by selecting "Add Token"
